The ore from which mercury is extracted

Open in App
Solution

Mercury is found either as a native metal (rare) or in cinnabar, corderoite, livingstonite, and other minerals with cinnabar (HgS) being the most common ore.

Mercury is obtained from its sulphide ore called cinnabar, HgS which is actually mercury(ii) sulphide.
