Thus, the oxidation number of S in H2SO5 is calculated as:
2×(+1)(for H)+X(for S)+3×(2)for O+2×(1)(for peroxide)=0
2+x62=0
x=+6
Thus, oxidation number of S in H2S2O8 is calculated as
2×(+1)(for H)+2×(x)(for S)+6×(2)(for O)+2×(1)(for peroxide)=0
2+2x12+2=0
