Calculating the oxidation state of the central atom:
In (H2PO2) P, is the central atom.
Let the oxidation state of P be x.

The sum of oxidation numbers of all the atoms is equal to the charge on that species
2 oxidation number of H atom+x+2oxidation number of O atom=1

=2(+1)+x+2(2)=1

=2+x4=1

=x2=1

=x=+1
