The statement is True. The Pala empire can be considered as the Golden era of Bengal. Pala empire is one of the prominent dynasty ruled regions of Bengal and Bihar for around 400 years. Pala Empire was founded by the Gopala in 750 AD. Pala dynasty was dominant power in northern Indian subcontinent. They have vast cultural and trade relation with South eastern Asia. They had built magnificent and prominent monasteries and temples such as Somapura Mahavihara and Odantapuri Monastery. Buddhist learning centres like Nalanda University and the Vikramshila University were flourished and developed in Pala Empire. Bengali language was developed during the Pala Empire. The Pala Empire was later dethroned by Hindu sena dynasty in 12th century (1162 AD).
