The Parliament is the body of people’s representatives who have Supreme power in a democracy. With reference to the Union Legislature answer the following:
Why is it called a Permanent house?

The Rajya Sabha is a permanent House, hence it cannot be dissolved. Each member is elected for a term of six years. l/3rd of its total members retire at the end of every two years, and the equal number of new members are elected to fill the vacancies caused by the retirement of 1/3 rd members.
