Refraction:

  1. When light passes from air to glass, it bends towards normal. When light passes from glass to air, it bends away from normal. Figure B depicts this appropriately.
  2. The bending of light as it travels from one medium to another is known as refraction.
  3. Refraction occurs when a light wave is an incident at an angle other than normal. Light is refracted when it passes through the interface from air to glass, where it moves more slowly.
