Question

The percentage error in measuring the voltage across a resistor 'r' by a voltmeter of resistance 'R'(current assumed to be constant) is?

Open in App
Solution

From figure we can say, V=(iig)r

Value of current will be, ig=I×rR+r

Voltage across voltmeter, Vm=IRrR+r

For ideal voltmeter, Vi=Ir

So, error will be, =VmViVm×100=IrRR+rIrIrRR+r×100

=Rr+R1=rR+r×100
