Let us take breath of rectangle is $x$ .

Now , the length of rectangle is $3x$ .

Perimeter of rectangle $=16$

$\begin{array}{rcl}2\left(\mathrm{l}+\mathrm{b}\right)& =& 16\\ 2\left(x+3x\right)& =& 16\\ 2x+6x& =& 16\\ 8x& =& 16\\ x& =& \frac{16}{8}\\ x& =& 2\end{array}$

So, the required length and breadth of the rectangle is $2\mathrm{m}$ and $6\mathrm{m}$ .

Area of rectangle :-

Area of rectangle $=$length $\times$breath

$$\begin{gathered} =2\times 6 \\ =12\mathrm{m} \end{gathered}$$

Hence, the required area of rectangle is $12\mathrm{m}$ .
