The perimeter of a rectangle is 20 units. If the length of one side is 6 units, what is the length of the other side?

So, we have a rectangle with perimeter of 20 cm and length of 6 cm.



We know that, for a rectangle the opposite sides are equal and the perimeter is equal to sum of all sides.

Now, if the height is h,

6+6+h+h=20
12+2h=20
12+2h12=2012
2h=8
2h2=82
h=4

So, the height or the length of the other side of the rectangle, would be 4 cm.

We can check this for ourselves:

If the length is 6 cm and the height is 4 cm, the perimeter would be =6+6+4+4+4=20 cm
