Given, perimeter of the rectangular piece of paper = 56 cm

Length = 3 × width (given)
Let the width be x.
Length =3x
Perimeter = 2 (length + width)
=2 (3x + x)= 8x cm

8x = 56 (since perimeter = 56 cm)
x = 7 cm

Width of the rectangle is 7 cm.
