Question

The perimeter of a rhombus is 160 cm and one of its diagonal is 64 cm . find the area of the Rhombus and its other diagonal?

Open in App
Solution

Consider a rhombus ABCD.

Side of a rhombus =160/4=40cm
AB=BC=CD=DA= 40 cm.

Length of one diagonal, AC = 64cm.

Half diagonal AC =AO = 32cm

Half diagonal BD =BO = {40^2–32^2]^0.5 = 24cm

Diagonal BD = 2*24= 48cm

Area of rhombus = pq/2
Where p is one diagonal
q is the diagonal

Then
Area = 64 x 48 /2
= 1536cm sq
