The perimeter of a rhombus is 260cm and one of its diagonals is 66cm. Find the area of the rhombus and its other diagonal.
Area =3696 cm2, BD = 112 cm
Perimeter of rhombus ABCD = 260cm. Diagonal AC = 66cm.
∴ sides of rhombus =2604=65 cm.
In ΔABC, we have
AB = BC = 65cm and AC = 66cm
s=AB+BC+AC2=65+65+662=98 cm
∴ Area of ΔABC
=√s(s−a)(s−b)(s−c)
=√98(98−65)(98−65)(98−66)
=√98×33×33×32
=√49×2×33×33×2×16
=7×2×33×4=1848 cm2
∴ Area of rhombus ABCD
=2×area of ΔABC=2×1848=3696 cm2
Also, area of rhombus =12× Product of its diagonals
=12AC×BD=12×66×BD
⇒BD=3696×266=112 cm
