Question

The perimeter of a rhombus is 60 cm. If one of its diagonals is 18 cm long, find (i) the length of the other diagonal, and (ii) the area of the rhombus.

Perimeter of Rhombus =4×Side =60 cm

Side =604=15 cm

Now, the Diagonals of a rhombus bisect each other at right angle.

So, OC =12×AC=9 cm

In triangle DOC, we have

CD2=OD2+OC2

152=OD2+92

OD2=22591=144

OD=12 cm

So, BD=2×OD=2×12=24 cm

Now, Area of the rhombus ABCD =12×d1×d2=12×24×18=432=216 cm2
