Solution

Let the smaller side of a triangle be x cm.
According to the question,
Second side = 4cm longer than the smaller side = (x + 4) cm
Third side = 6cm less than twice the smaller side
= (2x – 6)cm
Perimeter of a triangle = 50cm
x + x + 4 + 2x - 6 = 50
4x - 2 = 50
4x = 52
x=524
Smaller side, x = 13cm
Second side, x + 4 = 13 + 4 = 17 cm
And third side, 2x - 6 = 2 × 13 - 6 = 26 - 6 = 20 cm
Now, semi-perimeter, s=a+b+c2=13+17+202
=502=25cm
Area of triangle=s(sa)(sb)(sc) [by Heron’s formula]
=25(2513)(2517)(2520)
=25×12×8×5
=5×5×2×2×3×2×2×2×5
=5×2×230=2030
Hence, the area of triangle is 2030cm2
