Perimeter of a triangle = $6 p^{2} - 4 p + 9$
sum of its two sides = $3 p^{2} - 5 p + 3 + p^{2} - 2 p + 1 = 4 p^{2} - 7 p + 4$ ( 1 mark )
$∴$ Third side $= 6 p^{2} - 4 p + 9 - (4 p^{2} - 7 p + 4)$
$= 6 p^{2} - 4 p + 9 - 4 p^{2} + 7 p - 4 = 2 p^{2} + 3 p + 5$ ( 1 mark )
