The correct option is C 4 cm
Given:

AC = $5 c m$ and BC = $3 c m$

Perimeter of $Δ A B C$ = $12 c m$

Let the length of the side AB = $x$ units
Now,
Perimeter of a triangle = Sum of lengths of all the sides
$∴ 12 = 3 + 5 + x$
$\Rightarrow x = [12 - (3 + 5)]$
$= (12 - 8) = 4 cm$
Hence, the measure of side $A B = 4 c m$
