The perimeter of the parallelogram is 140cm. If one of the sides is greater than the other by 10cm, find the lengths of the sides of the parallelogram.

The perimeter of the parallelogram of sides a and b is given by 2a+b

Let one side be b

So, on the other side, a=b+10

So, perimeter =

2b+10+b=1402b+10=702b=60b=30

a=(30+10)=40cmb=30cm

Hence, the lengths of the parallelogram are 40,30.
