Solution

As we know that;

  1. If the pH of any solution is more than 7, the solution will be basic in nature.
  2. If the pH of any solution is less than 7, the solution will be acidic in nature.
  3. For a neutral medium, the pH of the solution is 7.

So, the salt used to make tasty and crispy pakoras with a pH of 8.4 is sodium hydrogen carbonate (NaHCO3) because this salt in basic in nature, we can not take sodium chloride (NaCl) salt here because (NaCl) salt is neutral in nature.

Chemical reaction:

NaCl(s)+NH3(g)+H2O(l)+CO2(g)ā†’NaHCO3(s)+NH4Cl(aq)

Uses of Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate:

  1. It is used in soda acid fire extinguishers.
  2. It is used as an ingredient in antacids.

Therefore, salt used to make tasty and crispy pakoras is identified.
