Question

The photoelectric current in a photoelectric cell is 8 microampere.When the distance between the source and the cell is doubled then the photoelectric current becomes ____ microampere?

Open in App
Solution

Photo electric current is directly proportional to intensity.
and intensity is inversely proportional to distance^2
so I1/I2 = (d2/d1)^2
8/I2 = (2)^2
I2 = 8/4
I2 = 2 A

The photoelectric current will be 2 A.
