The correct option is B 12.8 mm
Least count (LC) of screw gauge
= pitchno. of division on circular scale=2100=0.02 mm

From the data given in the question,
Circular scale reading
=(LC)×no. of division on circular scale coinciding=0.02×40=0.8 mm
Linear scale reading =no. of division on linear scale coinciding×pitch=6×2=12 mm
Total reading = Linear scale reading + Circular scale reading
= 12 + 0.8 = 12.8 mm
Diameter =12.8 mm.
Hence, option (b) is the correct answer.
