A hangar is a closed building structure to hold aircraft, or spacecraft. Hangars are built of metal, wood and concrete.

  1. A ‘hangar’ is a large building, typically for housing aircraft. A ‘hanger’ is something to hang clothes on.
  2. Special Structures are needed to build Hangars.
  3. Bigger the aircrafts, the more complex will be the structure of the Hangars.
  4. The sizes of Hangards are classified as S, M, L, XL, XXL. The span of each classification is different.
  5. In Britain, the earliest aircraft hangars were known as aeroplane sheds, and the oldest survivors of these are at Larkhill.
  6. Some of the largest hangars ever built was Hangar One (California, USA) and Goodyear Airdock (Ohio, USA).
