I and III quadrant
Here x > 0 and y > 0 i.e. both the coordinates are positive.
Such point can lie in I quadrant.
Now for x < 0 and y < 0, both the coordinates (x,y) are negative.
Such points lie in III quadrant.
So the quadrants in which both the x and y coordinates have same sign are either I quadrant or III quadrant.
