Solution

The correct option is A

1,11,000

Let the population in the year 1980 be
x.

The population in the year 1985
=x+10% of x
=x+10100×x=11x10

The population in the year 1990
=11x10+10% of 11x10
11x10+10100 of 11x10

11x10+10100×11x10

11x10+11x100

=110x+11x100

=121x100

According to the problem,

Population of the city in the year 1990 =1,34,310

121x100=1,34,310

or, x=1,34,310×100121=1,11,000
