Initial Population, $P_{o} = 20000$
Rate of increase $= 5 %$
Let say population after $3$ years at the end of the year $2000 = P$

$P = P_{o} (1 + \frac{R}{100})^{T}$

$P = 200000 (1 + \frac{5}{100})^{3}$

$P = \frac{200000 \times 21 \times 441}{20 \times 400}$

$P = 231525$

Thus, the population after $3$ years in $2000$ will be $231525.$
