Question

The potential difference between the terminals of an electric heater is 30V when it draws a current of 3A from the source. What current will the heater draw if the potential difference is increased to 120V

Open in App
Solution

Potential difference = 30V

Current drawn = 3A

Resistance = ?

R= V/I

putting values,

R= 30/3 = 10 ohms.

Now,Potential difference = 120V

Resistance= 10 ohms

current= ?

V = IR

I = V/R

= 120/10 = 12 A.

Potential difference is increased to 120V then the current drawn is 12 A.
