Given that, U = 6x + 8y
Now, Fx=dUdx=ddx(6x+8y)=6 N
Therefore, the x component of acceleration is ax=Fxm=62=3 ms2
The x coordinate of the body at time t is x=x0+12axt2=612×3×t2=(632t2)
The body will cross the y-axis when x = 0, i.e. at time t given by (632t2)=0 or t = 2 s.
