Question
The preparation of lead sulphate from lead carbonate is a two-step process.

Solution
Lead carbonate and lead sulphate are insoluble in water. Therefore, when dilute H2SO4 is added to lead carbonate, lead sulphate formed deposits on the remaining lead carbonate thereby stopping the further reaction.
