Solution

The correct option is B 2.4
This question deals with changes in pressure and temperature with the volume remaining constant.

This is dealt by using Gay Lussac's law, which states that volume remaining constant, the pressure exerted by a gas is directly proportional to its temperature.

i.e P α T or PT=k where k is a constant.

Thus, P1T1=P2T2 where P1 and T1 are the initial pressure and temperature, where as P2 and T2 are the final ones.

According to the question, P1= 1.6 atm, T1= 272K, T2= 409 K, P2 = ?

Thus, 1.6272=P2409

Hence, solving the equation, we get P2= 2.4 atm
