Given, the pressure (P) of a vessel is directly proportional to the its volume (V).

Let the constant of variation be k.
P=kV
Given, at P = 5 Bar, V = 20 Litres.
So, k=PV =520=14=0.25
P=0.25V
Hence, the pressure (P) when the volume of the vessel is 40 Litres = 0.25V = 0.25 (40) = 10 bar.
