Solution

Step 1: Given information:

Price of an article=Rs.8,250

Rate of GST=10%

Step 2: Calculate list price:

Let the list price be Rs.y.

Calculate GST on list price.

GST=y×10100=y10

Calculate the list price.

Price=y+y10y+y10=8,2501110y=8,250y=8,250×1011y=Rs.7,500

So, the list price is Rs.7,500.

Step 3: Calculate the deduced amount paid by the customer:

Calculate Rate of GST.

RateofGST=(10-3)%=7%

Calculate the sale price.

saleprice=7,500×(100+7)100=Rs.8,025

Calculate the amount deduced after decreasing GST.

Amount=8,250-8,025Amount=Rs.225

Hence, the customer will pay Rs.225 less if the GST is decreased by 3%.
