Open in App
Solution

Let the initial price of 1 litre of petrol be Rs. 100

Increase in price of petrol (in %)=10%

Price of petrol after increament =100+10% of 100

=100+10100×100

=100+0.10×100=100+10=Rs. 110

so, now he will get 1 litre of petrol in Rs. 110.

Rs. 1101 litre

Rs. 100(initial price which he wants to spend)? litre[suppose x litre]

By ratio method, Rs. 1101 litre=Rs. 100x litre

x=100110 litre

Now, he has to reduce the petrol consumption by (1100110 litre)=10110 litre

Reduction in petrol consumption (in %)=Reduced amountoriginal×100

=101101×100

=1011×10

=10011=9.09%
