If the price of a commodity increases by R%,

then the reduction in consumption so as not to increase the expenditure is

[R÷100+R×100]

Here R%=30%

Hence % decrease in the consumption of pulses

  1. [30÷100+30×100]
  2. =[30÷130×100]
  3. =[0.23076×100]

=23.076

the consumption will be decreased by 23.076
