The primary and secondary windings of a transformer are ____
inductively linked.
A transformer is a device that changes an alternating potential difference from one value to another value. A transformer consists of a soft iron core with two coils wound around it which are not connected to one another. The two windings of a transformer are inductively linked. When the current in the primary coil is changed, the flux linked to the secondary coil also changes. Hence an EMF is induced in the secondary coil by Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction.
