  1. The transmission vectors for protozoan malarial parasites i.e. Plasmodium sp. are female anopheles mosquitoes.
  2. The fusion of gametes and the sexual cycle takes place within the female anopheles mosquito.
  3. Following the sexual cycle inside the gut of the female mosquitos, dispersion of the sporozoites into human occur.
  4. These enter into hepatocytes and these hepatocytes rupture releasing the merozoites.
  5. This rupture resulting in fever and chills after 24 hours indicates successful inoculation of the malarial parasite within the secondary host.
  6. Humans and other vertebrates are the secondary hosts.
