Solution

The correct option is A 0.76
Given,
Probability that a girl student is selcted P(g)=0.4
Probability that a girl student is not selcted P'(g)=1-p(g)=1-0.4=0.6

Probability that a boy student is selcted P(b)=0.6
Probability that a boy student is not selcted P'(b)=1-p(b)=1-0.6=0.4

Now, A and B are independent events; hence, a and b too.

So, the probability that neither a boy nor a girl gets selected = P(g)×P(b)=0.4×0.6 = 0.24.

Therefore, the probability that at least one of them gets scholarship = 1P(g)×P(b)=10.24=0.76
