Solution

Given:
Probability that A will win the race, P(A) = 38
And,
Probability that B will win the race, P(B) = 16
Events A and B are mutually exclusive.
P(AB) = 0
And,
P(A B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A B)

= 38+16-0 = 1324

∴ Probability that one of them will win the race = 1324
