The process of engulfing food in amoeba is called:
Phagocytosis
Amoeba consists of small finger-like projections known as pseudopodia with which they move towards their food. They use pseudopodia to capture the food and consume them. It forms a vacuole with the food known as food vacuole which is temporary. The digestive juices are released in the vacuole and the food is digested and the nutrition is absorbed. After absorption, the amoeba excretes the waste. This process is known as phagocytosis.
