The process of evolution of different species in a geographical area starts from a point and literally radiates to other geographical areas. This is a form of adaptive radiation. Darwin explained this process with the help of an example of finches. The finches have different types of the beak. There were different varieties of finches found on the Galapagos island. The ancestor of this finches was the bird which feeds on the seeds. These birds have evolved and adapted to the different type of beak to feed on insects. This is a type of adaptive radiation where there are many different species which have evolved from the same species.
