The process of killing the larvae of silk worms inside their cocoons, with the help of steam, is called as
Hair on skin
The larvae is killed inside its cocoons by a process called stiffling. In this process a lot of cocoons are put in a steam oven for 10 to 15 minutes. The cocoons have to be stiffled to kill the larva inside as otherwise, they cut their way out after growing into a moth and spoil the cocoon. A continuous thread of silk cannot be derived from such a cocoon. Stiffling helps us to store the cocoons for a long time.
