The process of making silk from silkworm is known as sericulture. In this process, silkworm larvae are fed with mulberry leaves, and after the fourth moult, they climb a twig placed near them and spin their silken cocoons. Then the cocoon is treated with boiling water and then silk is unwound from the cocoon delicately. Around 10 kg of cocoon produces 1 kg of silk.
