Fractional distillation is the separation of a mixture into its parts, or fractions, separating chemical compounds by their boiling point by heating them to a temperature at which one or more fractions of the compound will vaporize.
For example. alcohol and water are miscible liquids but both are having different boiling points i.e. 78°C & 100°C respectively. So for their separation, fractional distillation has to be carried out.
