$C H_{2} = C H_{2} + H_{2} O \to C H_{3} C H_{2} O H$
$C H_{3} C H_{2} O H \to C H_{2} = C H_{2} + H_{2} O$
When ethene gas reacts with water it undergoes hydration to form ethyl alcohol. When this ethyl alcohol reacts with sulphuric acid it undergoes dehydration to form ethene again.
