The product of two integers is 72. If one of the integers is -12, what is the value of the other?
-6
Let P be the unknown integer.
Given: Product of the integers = 72
One of the integers is -12.
⇒ P × (-12) = 72
⇒ P = 72 ÷ (-12) = -6
(since 12 × 6 = 72 and when a postive number is divided by a negative number, quotient will be negative)
∴ The required number is -6.
