Solution
The correct option is C renal calyces Inner to the hilum is a broad funnel shaped space called the renal pelvis with projections called renal calyces.
Renal calyces is further divided into major and minor calyces. The renal calyces are chambers of the kidney through which urine passes. The minor calyces surround the apex of the renal pyramids. Urine formed in the kidney passes through a renal papilla at the apex of the renal pyramids into the minor calyx; two or three minor calyces converge to form a major calyx, through which urine passes before continuing through the renal pelvis that leads into the ureter.
Kidney is divided into two zones, an inner medulla and an outer cortex. Cortex is the zone that occupies the peripheral zone of kidneys. The renal column ( or column of Bertini) is a medullary extension of the renal cortex in between the renal pyramids.
The medulla is the inner region of the of the kidney. The medulla consists of multiple pyramidal tissue masses, called the renal pyramids.
