The prokaryotic DNA exists as a single chromosome.
What does it mean? Does it mean that there is a single chromosome in prokaryotes or other chromosomes donot contain DNA?

Prokaryotic cells does not contain a proper defined nucleus and membrane bound organelles are also absent in this type of cell. The genetic material or DNA is circular and lies freely in the cytoplasm of the cell.
