Solution

Step 1: Given data

  1. Quantity of motion or momentum = 50 kg m/s
  2. Speed = 5 m/s

Step 2: Momentum

  1. The product of the mass of a body and its velocity is considered momentum.

Momentum=mass×velocity

Step 3: Finding the mass of the body

Momentum=mass×velocity50kgms-1=m×5ms-1m=505m=10kg

Hence, the mass of the body is 10kg.
