Question

The radii of two circular ends of a frustum shaped bucket are 15 cm and 8 cm. If its depth is 63 cm, find the capacity of the bucket in litres. (Take π=227)

Open in App
Solution

Let R and r are radii of the circular ends at the top and bottom and h be the depth of the bucket respectively.
Given that R=15 cm,r=8 cm and h=63 cm
The volume of the bucket (frustum)
=13π(R2+r2+Rr)×h
=13×227×63×(152+82+15×8)=29664 cm3
=269941000 litres [1000 cm3=1 litre]
Thus, the capacity of the bucket =26.994 litres.
