The radius of a sphere shrinks from 10 cm to 9.8 cm. Find approximately the decrease in its volume.

Open in App
Solution

Volume of sphere of radius 10cm =>V1=43πr3

V1=43×3.14×10×10×10

V1=4186.7cm3

Now, Volume of sphere of radius 9.8cm =>V2=43πr3

V2=43×3.14×9.8×9.8×9.8

V2=3940.45cm3

Hence, the decrease in volume will be =4186.73940.45=246.24cm3
