Question

The rain water from a roof of 22 m×20m drains into a cylindrical vessel having diameter of base 2 m and height 3.5 m. If the vessel is just full, find the rain fall in cm.

Open in App
Solution

r=1 m
h=3.5 m
Therefore,
Volume of cylindrical vessel = πr2h=227×1×3.5=11 m3
Let the rain fall be x m. Then,
Volume of the water = 22×20×x
Volume of the water = Volume of cylindrical vessel
22×20×x=11
x=140 m=10040 cm=2.5 cm
