The rainfall recorded on a certain day was $5 c m$ . Find the volume of water that fell on a $2$ -hectare field.

Solution

Area of field $= 2$ hectare

$= 20000 m^{2}$ [Since 1 hectare=1000 $m^{2}$ ]

Rainfall $= 5 c m = 0.05 m$ [Since, $1 c m = \frac{1}{100}$ ]

$∴$ Volume of water of rainfall=Area of field $\times$ height of rainfall water

$= 20000 \times 0.05 m^{3} = 1000 m^{3}$
